“That’s crazy thinking ~ I’ve got to go Get Some Fresh Air”
“I think I need to clear the cobwebs out of my head~ I’m not thinking straight.”
Elements are often associated with different aspects of ourselves. The element of Air is associated with our mental self. So it’s only natural that expressions about cluttered minds and clearing them out is associated with the element air.
Air is very powerful. Indeed, it’s part of our lives each and every second simply because we need to breathe. It’s an all encompassing element. You can smell it. Ahhh, the fresh morning dew. You can feel it. Ahhh, the wind at your back on a cool crisp winter day. You can taste it. The salt air at the seashore. You can even ‘see’ it when watching the leaves fall from the trees in the fall. And, when you were reading this, couldn’t you just feel the mental clutter leave your mind like the leaf that falls from the tree?
Our thoughts are also very powerful. We are our own best friends and our thoughts are with us 24/7 (Yup, even when we are sleeping our subconscious thoughts are busy in our dreams!). We can’t get away from them. Indeed, our thoughts become us. How are you speaking with yourself? What tone do you use?
If you are looking to grow soulfully, one of the best places to begin is by becoming a better listener. To yourself! Listen to your thoughts for a minute. Are they loving? Kind? Or something less wonderful? Listening to your internal dialogue is the key to learning to listen more deeply to your soul. Taking time to calm the chatter in our heads allows us to hear with greater ease.
This exercise to become more mindful of your own thoughts, to clear the cobwebs in your head, and clear the thoughts that do not serve you is to utilize the element of air to support your thinking.
You will find this mindfulness exercise to be of great value. It will bring peace to you and allow you to become your thought in a positive and soulful way.
