How To Let Go ~ wisdom from winter’s ebbing

We all have to do it. We have to let go of so much in our life.

It’s a natural part of it. We let go of things ~ worn out jeans, cars that no longer work, and more.  We let go of times in our lives ~ our adolescence, our college years and beyond. We let go of our relationships ~ childhood friends, our first romances, the way we relate to our parents as we age ~ they all shift and we have to let go of the past to move forward into the future. When we move through time without learning how to let go, we take forward with us energy (baggage) that no longer suits us.  There is much to learn about how to let go.

Learning from Winter’s Ebbing how to let go.

You can learn a lot on how to let go by by looking to nature.  Winter must turn to spring ~ it is only natural. Some years, winter hangs on more than others. So too sometimes, we hang onto things, times and people for too long (like this winter ;-).Why is it important to let go in the first place Look to nature to learn how to let go Click To Tweet

In order to allow life to flow with grace and ease and in order to allow yourself to live In-Joy, one must master the art of how to let go. The seasons have done this. They may resist moving from one to another but ultimately, they shift and change. They know how naturally. When you don’t let go, you are resisting that inner peace that allows you to see your truth and wisdom. Resisting letting go creates a part of not being in the here and now. It holds you back from seeing all that is good and being grateful for what is rather than looking at what was. It’s important to learn how to let go so that you can live in the moment and live in-joy.

It should be easy then. Let go and live in-joy. If you want more joy simply let go! But often times, we resist it. The ego doesn’t want you have faith that all will be well when you let go. Our ego-self hates change and resists it because it is filled with fear. Fear is made up in our own minds. Fear is what holds us back from being able to let go.

So when we release fear, we learn how to let go. If you think back to a time when you resisted change, you will see that you did have to let go for that change to happen Take a moment to remember that time. Now, when you ultimately, allowed that resistance to diminish and stepped forward, was there really so much to fear? Probably not and if there was you did it anyway.

To learn how to let go, simply look at a past experience where you did and ultimately what you received by doing so. More freedom? More time? Less stress? A new beginning to create what you wanted? Life does have a way of shifting for the better when we set fear aside and let go of our own ego. But you have to embrace trust and belief in yourself first. Once hard becomes easier when we look to how courageous and trusting we have been in the past. And, we all have been.

Trust is a choice. Trusting in yourself to make the best possible decision is a choice. Then, sitting in quiet to discover what that choice is, ultimately is the best way to let go. Sitting and listening to your own inner wisdom allows for resistance to disappear and to step through change, let go and live in-joy. The seasons trust that when they let go ~one after another ~ that new beauty will come to those who choose to see it. Winter as it ebs into spring trusts that spring knows what to do to let the earth grow in beauty and flourish. Why don’t you?

If you want more support in learning how to do this, consider stepping into an Awakening or Aligning Coaching Program. You can discover more <here What time in your life did you let go of resistance? How did you feel? How can you bring that feeling, that courage, to let go and step into Joy today?

  3. Laura, I always love the wisdom in your posts. So powerful! So true! Another way I like to remember the lessons you are sharing is this: I am not the Doer. The Doing is being Done through me. I give my best, and then I give it to God. =-)

  6. Laura, I love your observation that trust is a choice, just as letting go is a choice.

I find that sometimes my clients are challenged to accept that their situation doesn’t “have” to be a certain way, or that they can choose to view it from a different and more powerful perspective. When this happens, I find it very useful to invite them to play the “What if?” game: I ask them, “What if you were able to let go and trust? How would you feel physically? Emotionally? How would your outcomes be different?”

Coming from a playful perspective of “What if?” tends to derail the ego’s automatic defensive mechanisms and, instead, stimulate the client’s own creativity. And once that happens, we usually get to go into a happy dance because their results really do improve.

Yes, Kathleen, often our clients give us the most beautiful perspective for our own ability to let go…..so I’ll ask you “What if YOU let go today, what will be for YOU?”
