What to do when you think you’ve missed the boat!

Have you ever feel like you’ve had an opportunity and you’ve missed the boat on it?

That it has passed you by? So many people have and when they recognize this they start the old, familiar dialogue with themselves. It goes something like this “I wish I had….”; “I should have …”; or “I’ll never have an opportunity like that again.…” and it does feel like the proverbial boat has set sail without you. missed_the_boat The Best solution when you think an opportunity may have passed you by is ....! The best solution when you think an opportunity may have passed you by is to simply ASK.

Reach out to that opportunity and A.S.K. (Always Seek Knowledge)  them. Often times, you will be surprised by the response! Actually, often times, you may be surprised by the VARIETY of responses. You may get a response like:

You get the idea! Just because you THINK you may have missed an opportunity and missed the proverbial boat doesn’t always mean that’s the case. What I’ve learned and discovered is that a “No” now may be a “Yes” later; a “No” now may be a referral to something better (people always want to help and support!) or a “No” the boat has sailed means a better, best opportunity is usually around the corner but you never know until you have asked. I’ll give you a great example: Often times, people miss the registration for a spiritual awakening class I’m offering and have asked if they can join late. Unfortunately, because of the way the programs work that’s not always a possibility. what turned out to be a “No” for this woman became a better opportunity for her. I recently launched my do-it-yourself program and it was perfect for her timing! I’m excited for those who can no longer participate live that they will now have access to the course material after the fact. You, too,  can discover more about this opportunity See The Universe always gives us chances and opportunities. It is up to seek them out and when we discover that they may have passed, it is up to us to ASK for support or guidance. This is about manifestation. This is about creating a life based on Joy. By Asking for help, we are given another form of an opportunity and this allows us to keep our vibration high!

The energy that you use to stay in the disappointment of missing something can most certainly be used better. Ask for an opportunity for the Boat you ‘think’ you missed to show up in a different way in your life. It most certainly will! What ‘Boat’ or opportunity have you missed before that have actually turned out better?

  1. Maybe it’s me but these days I no longer feel like I’m missing the boat of opportunity. Lots of boats come in but not every opportunity is right for me or at the right time. I suppose I’m a little more selective 🙂

Absolutely, Peggy! There are times in our lives when we have to discern and stand tall to say “NO’ not every opportunity fits!

  2. Thank you Laura for this lovely reminder for me to always trust myself and the bigger plan in my life. When I trust absolutely in myself and my source, I never miss any boat because it always divine perfect and impeccable timing. Blessings

Exactly, Debra. Each of us must Trust in Ourselves. When we are centered this is so easy to do but as humans we must accept that often re-balancing is necessary. It is in these times that we can see boats that perhaps were there but we didn’t even see!

  3. Thanks for this inspiring post, Laura. I have also found it important and helpful to develop the mindset that “being too late” is not gonna stop me. I’ll either try again or course-correct. When I listen to my intuition/heart, I’ll get where I need to go anyway.

Marianne~ exactly it’s not necessarily about being ‘too late’ it’s about being able to see that perhaps maybe now is the time and to go ASK to be on that boat that you just missed and not sitting back and saying “it’s too late.”

  4. Most of the time when I think I’ve missed an opportunity, it was only to realize that Life had something even better in store for me than I could have imagined.

  6. Hello dear Laura!

I absolutely love the ASK acronym you created. It is the perfect talisman for those times when I feel frustrated by a perceived “missed boat” opportunity.

I can’t wait to use it — this coupled with Debra Reble’s Divine Timing post today is JUST what I needed today.

    Love that and YOU!! xxoo

  7. love the ASK acronym!! I practiced this today by reaching out to a potential client who had been on my mind just to let her know I was thinking about her. We have a follow up call scheduled tomorrow. Thank you for the reminder to stay present to opportunities!!

  8. Oh Laura, I’ve been ouchy around this very thing lately. Am now having to pay a big technological debt for me and my clients that no one likes because my crystal ball was cloudy and my understanding incomplete.

Thanks for helping me open the forgiveness and compassion door. And to lift my eyes for opportunities and solutions.

Sue ~ everything is a lesson~ especially those OUCHY things. And, I’ve been there. I believe everyone has. Paying more for something because of clouds. ASK for solutions ~ you just might be surprised!

  9. I believe my life’s journey was indelibly changed by some things that happened in childhood. I’ve done all the work and i’ve healed but I also know these things were done to me. they have made me aware of possibilities that many others have never known. It’s as if a scar remains. and so I do believe there are opportunities I’ve missed – but others have always shown up. great article. thx

  10. I appreciate this message, Laura, today especially. Just before I read your post, an opportunity that I felt somewhat sure of, fell through. Instead of being sad and morose about it, I’m going to focus on asking the Universe for something better. This will be my inspiration:

“…a “No” the boat has sailed means a better, best opportunity is usually around the corner but you never know until you have asked.”

    Thank you, Laura

  13. I am a big believer in “it’s not meant to be” if I missed an opportunity. I live my life in a more relaxed way and I see that I have an endless streams of opportunities coming my way. It’s an excellent attitude when people are pressuring you to but something: “last pair of shoes in your size!” Well, if they won’t be here later I’m not meant to buy them 🙂

    [Reply]

    Laura Clark Reply:

Yes, Rachel! It’s when there is that intuitive tug after the fact (when the ‘pressure’ of sales or promotions are behind) in any situation when it is good to re-visit a choice and say “Dang, I AM meant to do that” when A.S.K will support!!!

  14. This is such a fabulous reminder that we do not need to stay stuck in regret about what we may have missed and instead embrace the possibilities currently in front of us! This practice also reinforces that there is perfect timing in the universe and fuels faith and trust which is a much more empowered place to be! Thank you Laura!

  15. I suppose that it is a function of getting older that I am more aware that the answer is “wait there’s something better on the way.” I am not desperate to get my way any longer. I trust that there is divine wisdom at play.
