The Most Important Thing to know about Vision Boards

The Most Important Thing to Know about Vision boards is to understand the intention with which you create them.

Vision Boards are all the rage now. The Law of Attraction is the primary reason to create a vision board. By creating a vision board, you are sending a powerful message to the Universe that this is something you want to attract into your life. More and more people are looking for creative ways to support manifesting that which they desire into their lives.

A vision board can be defined as  a tool used to help clarify, concentrate and maintain focus on a specific life goal. Literally, a vision board is any sort of board on which you display images that represent whatever you want to be, do or have in your life. But, done well, creating a vision board goes way beyond this simple definition. It is easier to manifest that which you put on your vision board when it is created as a Collage of Your Soul’s desires ~ your deepest most desires which lay hidden in your subconscious.

The magic of creating your vision board comes from the intention with which you create it. This is the most important thing to know about it.

When you create a board based on the intention of what you want in your life, magic will happen.  This happens well before you sit down to create your board. Taking time to reflect, meditate and journal on your deepest desires and discover what those are is important. Then, when you understand the intention you have for the next year (ior whatever you are designing your board around. ie health, project, event, relationship etc) you are ready to actually build your board.

The second most important thing about creating a vision board is to do it in an environment that supports you in keeping that intention in the forefront of your mind and listening to your intuition guide you during the process. So, create a space that has little to no distractions, allows you to relax and step into using your creativity and/or intuition!

Once you’ve built your board, then you are ready to understand it’s messages, you can put it to work for you and start taking action on those intentions you’ve created it with.

  1. Setting up your vision board with the magic of intention is really critical. From my experience people who say that vision boards don’t work usually miss out on this piece. They don’t do the work before hand and simply put some pretty pictures, or items that they think will impress others. Of course spending time with your vision board afterwards is the other part often missed. A great post to get folks started with a beautiful vision board Laura! <3

  2. Great post!
The power of intention. A unidentified truth.
I love being witness to what a vision board can support me to create.
Laura, I sometimes find the desire to turn my vision board around once created, releasing the images and instead capture the essence or the theme of my board …. “fearless” or “committment”.
    I’d love your thoughts.

Star ~ that’s a great way to send the message out to the Universe! I also like turning it around and having the Universe infuse back to it it’s energy….it’s the process before and after that is critical to them working for people and pieces that people often forget~!

You are welcome, Susannah! It truly is critical for them to manifest your desires ~ without listening into the intention…you don’t hear your truth!

  4. Laura, your post gave me a new bit of insight! It’s this part, where you write, “…before you sit down to create your board. Taking time to reflect, meditate and journal on your deepest desires and discover what those are is important.” I think skipping this step is the reason that some people have trouble creating their vision board. They sit down with a stack of magazines and a posterboard, but feel lost and confused about what to do next. It’s because they missed the most important part – discovering what is most important to them! The board is only the physical representation.

Yes. Lori! You are right on. That’s where most workshops on creating them miss the mark. Especially when you add girlfriends and wine 😉

  5. Thanks for sharing this, Laura. I am not a vision board person myself, I find my juice by setting my vision other ways. Your article, however, is a great explanation as to what it is without getting into the mechanics. I agree with Bonnie that the greatest aspect of the process is the intention.

  7. What a delightful and insightful post Laura. We need to have these foundational concepts in place in order to make the most of our vision boards. Thanks and much love xo

Absolutely, we do! As Vision Boards ‘grow up’, more and more are seeing this as so. It’s one of the fundamental premises I talk about in my program 🙂

  11. I’ve used vision boards for a long time and find them so much more helpful when I allow myself a meditative attitude when putting them together. Sometimes I’m drawn to words or images that don’t “make sense” in the moment… It’s always pretty interesting to go back and look them over later.

Andrea ~ I applaud your approach through a meditative attitude…the boards I’ve seen work best are those truly connected to source 🙂

  12. Fantastic post! I am a huge believer in vision boards. I love taking a picture of my board and using as a screen saver throughout the year. I have also mailed a copy of it to myself a year later to see how much I have accomplished!

    Laura Clark Reply:

Yes! I love that you have it as a screen save. I’ve printed mine off and laminated it with my goal cards too ~ so I see it first before I review them ~ have you ever tried that!
I adore the idea of mailing myself a copy too!!!!
