How to Enjoy The Holidays with these 5 ingredients

Have you taken a good look at your calendar? Are you ready to enjoy the holidays?

I looked at my calendar last night and saw Thanksgiving this week, a business event and a birthday get together and then the holiday events were lined up. The lists and the calendars can get you all wrapped up in a ball just like the holiday wires!!! So, how do you enjoy the holidays?

                                                   how to enjoy the holidays

What I know about the holiday season is this: We all want more Love, more Joy during them but it doesn’t always happen. There are many stresses and pressures that arise during them and, often times, this overshadows the season. Layer this with many people not being able to spend time with those they truly love for a multitude of reasons. They have passed forward, they live far away or are spending time with their own family and friends. After all, there is only so much time to go around, right? So How do you enjoy the holidays?

Just chuckled, Lisa. As I read your reply, I thought of Prof. Hinkle saying “Busy, Busy, Busy” in Frosty the Snowman ~ A great new mantra for him and us all “Simple, Simple, Simple!”

  3. A big KISS to you…. Keep It Simple, Sistah! I may need to tattoo this on my knuckles. Sigh. Nobody who loves me wants me to be miserable.

  4. Thanks for the reminder. I know I tend to get caught up in the hype and stress out about things that are really non-important. I will take your item #1: set the intention for the holidays I want.

Lilia!!!! Yes, it’s all about the intention we set and then having the courage to act upon it!

  5. Laura,
I was thinking the same thing—I believe we stress ourselves out WAY TOO MUCH trying to make the holidays “special” for everyone else. Making the holidays special doesn’t have to take a lot of undue stress. We need to remember the reason for the season (and all year long)—-creating moments and memories. For some (myself included), this year will be different as my mom won’t be here with us. That creates another level of anxiety and uneasiness in the holidays. However, at the same time, we get to choose to create new memories and moments together. This year, I’m definitely all about keeping it simple and focusing on the love in the holidays instead of all the trimmings and such. Thanks Laura!

  6. One of my big holiday tips that I will stand on my soap box for: Say YES when you mean Yes. Say NO when you mean no. When you say YES to something your really mean NO to, you set yourself up for chaos and crazy and anger and resentment.

    Laura Clark Reply:

Exactly Peggy! And those answers do have to come from understanding exactly what you (not your ego, not your emotions) ~ your soul ~ desires and having the courage to follow that!

  7. I love the holidays – all the planning, secrets of gift-giving and especially the traditions. These are such great tips and for me, expressing gratitude is such a powerful one and keeps me from feelings stressed and overwhelmed. I also love the idea of accepting only the invitations that feel right! Great post, Laura.

  9. I love the message for simplicity. How easy it can be to complicate things! But with gentle reminders and permission, we can allow life to be simple.

    Laura Clark Reply:

Oh but Frances, don’t we LIKE to complicate things!?!?! Simplicity is always the answer!
